FIVE. Wellness tip - drink more water
If you're feeling swollen, heavy, or maybe showing signs of significant fluid retention - drink more water.
It may sound contradictory, but when you drink plenty of water your well-hydrated body is less likely to retain fluid.
Fluid consistently seeps from the bloodstream into the body tissues. The lymphatic system, comprising a network of tubes, functions to drain this fluid, known as lymph, from the tissues and return it to the bloodstream.
Fluid retention, also known as edema, occurs when this fluid is not adequately removed from the tissues.
Quick tips like drinking more water and cutting back on dehydrating drinks such as tea, coffee, and alcohol may help reduce the water retention in your body for more of a lighter, more slimming feel.
